The web development network with a heart

website portfolio

We have an extensive portfolio consisting of jobs where we have done everything including creating the domain name identity, writing the text and photographing the product range to other jobs where we may have just made a minor update or small add-on to somebody else's work.

Here are just a few of our larger and more recent jobs:

Beat School Uniforms

Beat School Uniforms

Beat School uniforms is an ecommerce site selling school uniforms directly to parents at vastly discounted prices.

It was the brainchild of one of our existing clients, Beat Design a clothing manufacturer, who came up with the idea of undercutting the high street stores and at the same time giving a percentage of the sales to the school. Thus the parents are saving money, the school is making money and our client is selling lots of clothes.

That was the brief and Carciofino did everything else. We came up with the name, the identity and conceived and built the ecommerce website. Initially the site was built for just one school and the hierarchy has since grown and been rolled out for more.

If you are a parent who currently pays too much for your children’s school uniform then please contact us or Beat School Uniforms directly to explore the option of a contract with your school too.

Eagle Crown

Eagle Crown

Eagle Crown is an image library which holds the rights to a unique collection of imagery and artwork.

They purchased a 3rd party application which is specifically designed to sort, keyword and allow searching of picture library databases. Our brief was to build the rest of the website around this including the design and front end and to allow the integration of the application to sit within this.

We also needed to ensure that the live search worked across the main section of the site too and also came up with a novel, dynamic Flash image viewer which allows images from the library collections to be displayed dynamically on all pages of the site.

The site was built in conjunction with a new company identity and a wider rethink of the company strategy.

Timepieces

Timepieces

Timepieces is an ecommerce site selling a range of luxury but affordable watches.

All standard ecommerce attributes such as secure ordering, one time user or account setup options for purchasing and a detailed admin system allowing the client to add/edit new products themselves as well as much more in depth functionality so that they can change a whole host of other things.

The site also has a rather unusual use of Flash integrated with their logo so that the the logo you see actually tells the real time.

The Hall School

The Hall School

The Hall School is an excellent boy's private school located in Belsize Park, North London. “It provides an exciting academic and stimulating environment for boys to learn and develop.”

Having visited the school for the initial website brief it became clear that this is indeed a very welcoming environment producing polite and well informed boys and that as always with our clients, the website should reflect the content matter.

It also became clear that a major part of the brief was that the brief could change significantly and that the content would need to be updated almost on a daily level. The solution therefore was to offer the school an extremely sophisticated administration system that provided them with a designed framework within which they could manage the content themselves.

Only the 8 top level pages are fixed outside of the admin control. After that they can add new pages, wherever they like and fully control the type and actual content on them. Thus they can make their own galleries, charts, internal and external links as well as creating sub administrators and giving them rights only over certain areas.

This has proved to be invaluable in an organisation where 1 person could not manage the task of updating everything neither on a time nor on a knowledge level. The result is a continually changing site with new sections, comments and areas being added all of the time. This is the perfect representation of a school which is itself a continually changing environment with constant trips, concerts and classroom activities meaning that every day adds to the wealth of information available to the school, pupils and parents alike.

CV Law

CV Law

CV Law are legal recruitment consultants based in the heart of the City of London. After an initial consultation we were able to capture and address the company’s 3 main requirements regarding their website strategy:

  • To occupy the now traditional role of an online shop window to give the company its internet presence.
  • To automate many of the processes involved with finding new candidates and allowing them to register with the company and submit details and CVs.
  • To act as a tool for the companies who wish to recruit utilising the services of CV Law.

We took a very close look at CV Law as a company and how the web could streamline their business processes and we also conducted extensive research of many of their competitors both direct and more general recruitment and job listing websites.

The site obviously features extensive content management to allow the client to keep the data updated themselves and to receive and process candidate’s enquiries. Other functionality allows candidates to register and also request emails when future jobs fitting their profile are added and employers to register and post their own job listings on the site. There is also a section detailing temporary employment and a calendar system which enables candidate, employer and CV Law to save much time in only attempting to match a vacancy with a registered availability.

Kingsway Mortgages

Kingsway Mortgages

A full website revamp for this Mortgage Specialist based in Holborn.

Kingsway Mortgages is a broker and as such advises clients on which lender to go with and ensures that they have all the prerequisites that their application will be approved.

They are an extremely professional company based in the city and have corporate and private clients and they needed their web identity to reflect this. The website is mostly static content with subtle use of Flash animation and an updateable best buys page and a mortgage repayment calculator.

They are also one of our networking affiliates and we would be very happy to recommend their services.

The Trinity Group

The Trinity Group

The Trinity Group is a private investment banking firm.

They came to us with a very outdated website that did little justice to the company and its activities.

They required a new brochure site that fitted in with their new identity and allowed a structure that included all the content they wanted to convey.

Planet Investments

Planet Investments

Planet Investments offers professional Independent Financial Advice to its clients.

The website redesign was conceived in conjunction with a general revamp of the company design and rethink of how it portrayed itself.

There was also the desire to use a minimal amount of Flash present on opening the site but to keep this quick and neat so as not to distract the users.

Having worked for a few financial institutions over time we are also now familiar with the stringent requirements of the FSA and proceeded through the lengthy process of having the site approved by them before it was allowed to go live.

Your Dream Dress for Less

Your Dream Dress for Less

This is an ecommerce website with “whistles and bells” on it. We were solely responsible for every stage of this project right from a client coming to us and saying, “I’ve got this stock of ex-demonstration / sample / end of line wedding dresses that I want to sell off cheaply but I can’t sell them in my shop because people won't buy the expensive ones”, to the follow-up marketing and traffic generation. We even came up with a whole selection of potential domain names including the “Does exactly what it says on the can”, option that they decided to use.

The site in its simplest guise is an ecommerce website selling wedding dresses. It also features ancillary products such as bridesmaids' dresses and accessories such as veils and jewellery.

In terms of functionality, users can browse or search and add products to their shopping carts before paying securely with a credit card. It features many useful additions such as the option to create your own shortlist and then email a particular dress or shortlist to a friend for a second opinion. Users can search on a whole selection of criteria or leave the fields more open to generate more results. If you don’t find what you are looking for then you can automate alerts so that when a product that fits your requirements is added to the database, the site will notify you immediately. All of this functionality can be controlled within a time period, so that once your wedding is upon you, you do not continue to receive notifications of products that you are no longer in the market for. The website also features a complex stock control system, that can remember items even if they are not currently in stock. Thus overtime, as more and more dresses have been through the system, the data inputting by the client takes less and less time as many items are in there already. As this business is predominantly an online business, the database and stock control system behind the website represent the full infrastructure of this company. The website therefore updates the database directly when products are added to it, removed, sold, returned etc. but the client can also manipulate changes manually if for, example, he sells a dress independently of the website.

The site was not built or conceived in one go. It has been an ongoing partnership with the client, who, like many of our clients has started a new business with a relatively small budget and been happy to plough a proportion of the profit generated back into the project to enable it to grow.

Landmark Homesearch

Landmark Homesearch

The client came to us with an existing logo and identity. Our task was to extrapolate from this and produce a web presence that would sit in line with what was already there.

The site features static content and Flash animation including an animated logo as a splash screen. The look and feel we agreed on was intentionally corporate so as to appeal to the client’s target market.

Fuzz TV

Fuzz TV

Fuzz Tv is an independent TV production company who have made programmes for ITV, Sky and MTV amongst others.

Included in the more well known of their portfolio are the Footballers’ Cribs and “Close up” programmes of several famous sports and media stars.

The brief for their site was quite open with the main point being to include plenty of images of their screen content on the site as this after all is the most sensible way to show what they do.

After a few teething issues calculating the differences between television and flat image dimensions and proportions when optimising, we emerged triumphant and with a site design and layout that the client loved.

Perfect Day Photography

Perfect Day Photography

Perfect Day Photography is a sub brand of our recommended photographer Sean Pollock. You can see Sean’s work on several of our websites.

Perfect Day was conceived as a package aimed specifically at the wedding, portrait and family market. We came up with the name as well as helping Sean to develop the concept and a specially designed image scroller so as to make it easy to add new images to the site in the future in order to keep the portfolio updated.

If you need imagery for your website (or wedding etc.) then please contact Sean either directly or via our network.

Paladin Commercial Credit Management

Paladin Commercial Credit Management

This was a rebuild for an established company already with an existing identity and client base. The front end functionality is not so extensive on this site but it shows how we have been able to work within a client’s existing parameters and still produce a site in line with all accessibility standards. The way that it has been built will make future updates or a re-brand very easy, quick and therefore cost effective to implement. This was all taken into consideration when the client’s specification was that they needed a quick short term solution to replace an outdated predecessor, but at the same time, were aware that their long term requirements would change, although couldn’t at this time be more specific as to how.

The build, design and layout of the text based navigation menu means that new sections, sub sections, pages or even tiers can be added without having any major impact on design and therefore at a relatively low cost. Such a system means that although the client doesn’t have that much control at the moment (as they didn’t require it), they could do one day. Equally reproducing the site in other languages for example or even building the client the facility to reproduce the site themselves in other languages is all potential functionality that could be added relatively easily.

On this project the client has not had to pay for any functionality that they don’t need but we have left the door open so as not to exclude the possibility of anything that they might one day want.
